Not to mention, lots of local acts like the Brutal Knights (remember frontman Nick Flanagin’s past interview).

This week I talked to Priya, who sings for the Toronto based hard rock band Diemonds, we met up at Dark Horse Coffee.

In December, Diemonds went to India and played the rock capital of India, Shiloong, making them only the 4th band that has ever played there. They share this elite honour with such bands as Scorpions and Mr. Big. Priya also discusses her and her band’s surprise as they learned about certain regions of India and the diverse roles and importance of women within these communities.

Check out the video that briefly talks about Diemonds’ trip to India.

Be sure to listen to Diemonds on their MySpace, join their Facebook group, follow on Twitter and watch their YouTube channel.

For over a year now, we have been planning to get Frosty’s at Wendy’s but always settle for “the next best thing”, which always ends up being the “closest place”. Our last encounter was at Dufferin Mall – before all the renovations. The latest excursion was to Dairy Queen for some Blizards. The Frosty’s will be saved for another day.

Nick was nice enough to allow me to interview him for the Film Foodie blog.

Sound in film is not something I normally think about when I watch movies, but lately I am realizing how crucial this one aspect is.

Majority of the music I grew up with came from skateboard movies. My favourite skate parts to this day always had an amazing song to go along with it. I could not imagine a skateboard video without music.

Just having that perfect song attached to a scene makes the film (or in my case, a skateboard part).

This led me to finding someone to talk about sound and TV.

Rachel McLean is a field audio mixer and has worked on productions such as Project Runway Canada, Instant Beauty and the new sow Big Voice. She loves working in the reality television area, where unfolding the key stories relies heavily on ((audio)).

Check out a video clip with Rachel

(I’m sure she wants to fix the sound on this!)

It’s directed by Dilip Mehta and co written by Dilip Mehta and his sister Deepa Mehta.
